Brian Cecy has been a resident of Santa Cruz County since 1960. After graduating from Santa Cruz High School in 1964, he proudly served 6 years in the US Navy. He and his bride, Susan, were married in 1969 and had two children, Jeff & Renee, and now have five grandchildren.
Brian attended Cabrillo College and Chico State University, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies as well as his teaching credential.
Having a wife and two young children to support, he could not afford to teach school, so he decided to go into business. His first local business ventures were Santa Cruz Compost Co. and Santa Cruz Landscape Supply, which he co-founded in 1977.
In 1989, he sold his interest in these businesses and began his career in the insurance field as life and health-producing agent for Rittenhouse Insurance Services in Santa Cruz.
In November 1990, Brian started his own company, Cecy Insurance Services. Since then, they’ve specialized in life, health, disability and group employee benefits. He’s been a 25+ year active member of the National Association of Health Underwriters (NAHU) and the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors (NAIFA).
Wanting to be able to serve his clients better, Brian took on a 3-year course of study from NAHU and earned the professional health insurance designation of Registered Health Underwriter (RHU) that is conveyed through the American College. He also earned a LUTCF designation and served on the board and is a past president of the Santa Cruz County Association.
Brian and Susan live on a family compound in the country with son Jeff, daughter Renee, and their spouses and children. A long-time supporter and original season ticket holder of the San Jose Sharks, Brian still plays ice hockey in an adult league in the Silicon Valley. Although older & slower, you can’t take the Canuck out of the boy!
For the last 25+ years, he and Susan have regularly attended Santa Cruz Bible Church where his heart is for helping men become better husbands, fathers, brothers, and neighbors in this great area in which we’re blessed to live in!
